The role:

Fibrofind is looking for an ambitious procurement officer who is looking to develop their career. The individual must have experience of process implementation as well as being able to communicate effectively to all roles within the business. This role would ideally suit an individual who is a great communicator and organiser.



  • Responsible for monthly inventory of all equipment stock held at FF
  • Responsible for creating a full live database of all aspects of FF stocks
  • Track usage data and deliver forecasts/ budgets
  • Researching and negotiating with external suppliers to build strong relationships to ensure all purchases are within budget and of the required quality
  • Provide forecasts to finance for spend on a quarterly basis based on trend and business volume
  • Ensure that purchases are cost-efficient and of high-quality
  • Create POs for purchase and pay invoices on optimised due term dates.
  • Improve business performance by identifying and championing new technology for FF operations
  • Managing the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement for the organisation
  • Excellent IT skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and aptitude for development in and use of core software and data systems
  • Research and advise on up to date or upcoming technology required for laboratory and office equipment
  • Ensure adherence to the company's procurement policies and procedures
  • Conduct interviews with potential vendors, negotiating favourable supplier agreements and manage supplier and vendor contracts
  • Liaising with key company employees on a quarterly basis to determine their product and service needs
  • Performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management
  • Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results
  • Developing strong relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business
  • Creating policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation
  • Engage with staff and management to ensure that each person has the equipment they need to deliver its business efficiently and forecasting future needs
  • Researching and negotiating with external suppliers to build strong relationships to ensure all purchases are within budget and of the required quality
  • Manage records relating to the functions of the designated office, to include taking responsibility for maintaining database(s) of information; gathering data from multiple sources, extracting reports on data as required and ensuring the integrity of data entered/recorded
  • Track shipment from suppliers to optimise delivery times along with import regulations.

Building successful relationships and outstanding communication with both internal and external stakeholders will be key to achieving success in this role and the successful candidate with have to show they have the skills to achieve this.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications
  • Previous experience in a procurement role
  • Inventory knowledge
  • Person needs to have high integrity, be innovative, work well within a team and be respectful of others


  • Experience and knowledge of inventory field equipment
  • Degree level qualification in a relevant field
  • Experience of dealing with multiple markets within an organisation


  • Procurement: 2 years (preferred)
  • Purchasing: 2 years (preferred)

  • Place of work: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
  • Permanent role
  • 37.5 hours
  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • Looking for somebody to start ASAP
  • £23,000 - £28,000
